NEW ORLEANS, LA – Saturday, November 13th Green For All hosts Green UP New Orleans. A day of green education and entertainment, featuring musical acts Dead Prez, Hot 8 Brass Band and Charmaine Neville.

"New Orleans has the opportunity to be an innovator on greening the economy like we have in so many other facets of life post-Katrina," says Mayor Mitch Landrieu. "Building a better quality of life for current and future generations through sustainable communities is an important part of our work, so we’re proud to welcome environmental organizations like Green For All to our city."

Green UP New Orleans will include free workshops and a celebration of New Orleans culture with local talent and performers.

"My family and I have lived in New Orleans for generations,” says Charmaine Neville. "The reason why I am performing at the Green UP Conference and Concert is because I believe nothing is more important than preserving the health of our city, our families now and for generations to come."

"We are playing at Green UP New Orleans because this new movement for an equitable, green economy is key to uplifting our communities," says M1 of Dead Prez. "As an artist concerned with living a healthy lifestyle, my band is committed to sharing positive messages through our music for the people of the beautiful and resilient city of New Orleans."

The day's events will also include the Green UP Local Hero Award presented to a leader in New Orleans working to build the clean green economy.

"If any city in America understands the need to transition to a clean energy economy, it is New Orleans," says Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, CEO of Green For All. "New Orleans has some of the most innovative green success stories we see on a local level nationwide and it is exciting to think of New Orleans leading in the green economy - an economy where people don’t have to choose between putting food on the table and their health and safety. It is our hope, that Green UP New Orleans will bring families and communities a moment of hope and opportunity."

Also presenting the event are, The City of New Orleans, The Delta Chapter of the Sierra Club, The Green Project, Green NOLA, The Deep South Center for Environmental Justice of Dillard University, Gulf Coast Fellowship, The Bayou Shared Faith Organizing Committee, Limitless Vistas Inc., Good Work Network, Blues to Green, Louisiana Green Corps, Madison Media Group and Whole Foods.
