Policy Associate (National) - Position Summary

We are seeking a creative, experienced Policy Associate who will be responsible for supporting Green For All’s efforts to win concrete program and policy changes.  The Policy Associate will contribute to policy analysis, research, and development, and will build and strengthen partnerships to advance federal and state policy advocacy efforts.

Successful candidates will be values driven, self-motivated, detail oriented, resourceful, and have experience in policy analysis, advocacy and organizing.  They will be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment that requires adaptability to shifting priorities, a keen sense of urgency, and a commitment to excellence.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Policy Analysis and Development

  • Perform policy analysis and research.  Provide analytical reviews and summaries of existing literature pertinent to Green Economy.
  • In collaboration with staff, draft material summarizing research results on specific topics for incorporation into working papers and project publications.
  • Update existing databanks and assembles, extracts, and/or consolidate data from new sources.
  • Work with identified partners to develop policy briefs, fact sheets, proposals and reports regarding best practices.
  • Prepare resource materials targeted for specific constituencies.
  • Contribute to the development of newsletters and other external communications.

Policy Advocacy and Partnerships

  • Support day-to-day operations of Green for All's policy advocacy efforts.
  • Work collaboratively with identified state and national partners and G4A field staff to organize key constituencies in support of mutual goals through meetings, briefings and conferences.
  • Provide information and assistance to help identified partners improve existing programs or develop new policy initiatives. Provide policy proposals, support, and coordination.
  • Prepare materials and handle logistics for events and briefings.
  • Give presentations or assist staff in preparing for presentations.
  • Assist Green For All’s local, state and federal policy advocacy efforts as needed.
  • Help guide the overall strategic direction of Green For All’s federal policy work.

Other duties as needed and assigned.

 

Experience & Qualifications 

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university with a degree in energy, environment, public policy, economics, urban planning, labor relations, or related field.
  • Experience in research/advocacy in one or (preferably) more of the following policy areas: energy, environment, economic development, workforce development, and anti-poverty.
  • Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative research skills.
  • Familiarity with basic economic and demographic data sources.
  • Proven ability to work independently and also to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.
  • Knowledge/experience in Green Economy or related areas.
  • Experience at a non-profit public policy organization is a plus.
  • Commitment to Green For All’s mission.


Start Date: As soon as possible.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience, Excellent benefits package.
