State and Local Initiative Team Intern

Green For All’s State and Local Initiatives team seeks an intern to assist in strategic campaign research, policy analysis, and other programmatic support. The State and Local Initiatives team works with local partners in cities and states across the country to help develop and implement policies that create quality green jobs. The intern will assist in research projects, data analysis, writing of memos and briefs , and other assignments as needed to help inform campaign strategy and development. The intern will work closely with the Regional Program staff and will primarily focus on issues and campaign work in California.

Green For All’s State and Local Initiatives team seeks an intern to assist in strategic campaign research, policy analysis, and other programmatic support. The State and Local Initiatives team works with local partners in cities and states across the country to help develop and implement policies that create quality green jobs. The intern will assist in research projects, data analysis, writing of memos and briefs , and other assignments as needed to help inform campaign strategy and development. The intern will work closely with the Regional Program staff and will primarily focus on issues and campaign work in California.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Support in researching programs, policies and other initiatives in California and elsewhere related to energy efficiency and green jobs programs.
  • Compiling and analyzing data on program effectiveness and opportunities for green jobs components.
  • Tracking and reporting on key legislative and other government proceedings.
  • Support in responding to technical assistance requests from policymakers, community groups, and legislators.
  • Support in researching and writing memos, briefs, and other educational materials.

 

Desired skills and qualifications include:

  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Strong oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and well organize.
  • Qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work with limited supervision.
  • The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

 

Location

This internship is based out of our office in Oakland, CA and may require some local travel.

 

Hours and Compensation

A minimum of 20 hours per week is required for 6 months. This is a volunteer intern position and is generally uncompensated, but if financial needs exist we will work with candidates to identify possible resources. Student work-study may be available.
