Get Involved: Provide Help and Hope to Those Impacted by the Tornadoes
Once again, Americans are reeling from devastating storms. The city of Joplin, Missouri, was hit hard yesterday afternoon, with scores dead and hundreds displaced. By now, you've probably seen the images. We need your help once again.
Once again, Americans are reeling from devastating storms. The city of Joplin, Missouri, was hit hard yesterday afternoon, with scores dead and hundreds displaced.
By now, you've probably seen the images: the miles of debris and destruction; the families searching through piles of rubble, looking to pick up the pieces of their lives; people struggling to cope with their hurt and sorrow.

We asked for your help a few weeks ago in aiding those impacted by the tornadoes that devastated the South; you responded overwhelmingly with generosity and selflessness. We need your help once again.
It's easy - particularly given the frequency with which these storms are happening - to feel as though requests for assistance are coming faster than you can respond. But we ask that you put yourselves in the shoes of the impacted, and do what you can one more time.
Here, according to KCTV-5 in Kansas City, are ways you can help - particularly if you live in the area.
Financial donations to The Salvation Army disaster relief efforts may be made by texting the word ARMY to 90999 for an automatic $10 donation. To make a credit card donation, call 1-800-SAL-ARMY or go to SalvationArmy.us. Checks may be mailed to The Salvation Army, 3637 Broadway Ave., Kansas City, MO 64111.
The Red Cross has said they are in need of blood donations. Those interested can donate $10 by texting REDCROSS to 90999. Donations can be made at RedCross.org.
The State Emergency Management Agency is asking all Missourians to assist in the response to the devastating tornado. Missourians interested in volunteering with the recovery are urged to call either 800-427-4626 or 2-1-1. Those with medical skills are asked to visit ShowMeResponse.org. Monetary donations can also be made by calling the same numbers. The severity of the storms prompted Gov. Jay Nixon to send in the Missouri National Guard. Search and recovery efforts are expected to continue throughout Monday
The New Life Community Church, 16111 Vitie Avenue in Belton, is accepting donations for tornado victims. They are especially looking for items like prepackaged food, water, bedding, clothes and medical supplies.
