We are seeking a creative and energetic Organizer who will be responsible for supporting the organization’s efforts to build our base and grow the movement for an inclusive, green economy. The Organizer will responsible for creating and implementing activities that further the mission, goals, and strategic objectives of Green For All.

Reports to the Education Director, position located in Oakland, CA.

About Green For All:

Green For All is a national organization dedicated to building an inclusive green economy strong enough to lift people out of poverty. Green for All advocates for local, state and federal policies and funding for quality job creation, training, and entrepreneurial opportunities in the emerging green economy.

Green for All is developing a national network to engage people from every sector of society in (1) collaborating to build a green economy that works for all by sharing innovation, best practices, and relationships to (2) advance major policy initiatives that fight both poverty and pollution at the same time.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a creative and energetic Organizer who will be responsible for supporting the organization’s efforts to build our base and grow the movement for an inclusive, green economy. The Organizer will responsible for creating and implementing activities that further the mission, goals, and strategic objectives of Green For All.

Successful candidates will be values driven, self-motivated, detail oriented, resourceful, and have experience in policy analysis, advocacy and organizing. They will be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment that requires adaptability to shifting priorities, a keen sense of urgency, and a commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Education Director and team to grow the leadership development and engagement programs.
  • In coordination with the Education Director, maintain annual budgets and expense tracking procedures for relevant programs.
  • Organize trainings & convenings, including on-site logistics, agendas, participant travel, and materials development.
  • Facilitate/moderate panels and workshops at trainings and convenings.
  • Support local organizers and organizations by coordinating regular conference calls, managing online content and communicating regularly with them about leadership opportunities.
  • Identify ways to lift organizers and partners work up and ways to further their leadership development.
  • Work with appropriate staff and/or consultants to develop curricula and training materials as needed.
  • Be point-of-contact at Green For All along with the education team for local organizers, and partner organizations to make sure their needs are met and are integrated into our ongoing campaigns, communications, policy, and education & outreach activities.
  • Coordinate with other Green For All staff to ensure that engagement programs are complementing and supporting other strategic objectives of Green For All.
  • Work with the online and communications teams to promote program successes to our members, donors, and the public.
  • Work with the online team to develop online technological capacity.
  • Regularly communicate the activities, plans, and successes of the education and outreach programs and partners to Green For All staff (check-ins, staff meetings, etc.).
  • Work with the development team to raise the funds necessary to support and grow engagement programs.
  • Engage interns and volunteers as necessary.
  • Work with the education team to produce events and implement national organizing campaigns.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university (related degree preferable).
  • Availability to travel and work long hours; be available on nights and weekends if necessary.
  • 3-5 years experience working in one or more of the following areas: organizing in communities of color, energy, environment, economic development, electoral campaigns, labor relations, workforce development, and anti-poverty work.
  • Organized and flexible.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to multi-task and manage short- and long-term deadlines.
  • Intermediate computer and database management skills.
  • Group facilitation and training skills.
  • Experience in project management and event production.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful community organizing campaigns in low-income communities and communities of color.
  • Ability to work independently and also to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.
  • Commitment to Green For All’s mission and values.

Start Date: As soon as possible.

Compensation: Full-time, commensurate with experience, and excellent benefits package.
