Call Congress Now - Critical vote this week!

Posted by Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins at Jun 24, 2009 11:50 AM |

On Friday, Congress is set to vote on the future of our economy - and it is up to us to make sure the bill includes access and opportunity for all.

The American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES) could begin America's much-needed transition to a clean energy economy. But ACES falls short when it comes to creating accessible jobs and opportunity for our local communities.

With your help, Congress is now paying attention. After receiving more than 8,000 emails from you, ACES co-sponsors Henry Waxman and Ed Markey have committed to support our key equity provisions!

But we need another big push to make sure these critical gains actually get included in the bill - and we need it this week.

Call your Representative immediately!

We've set up talking points and an easy tool to connect you to your members of Congress.

Ask your Representative to strengthen ACES by:

1. Funding the Green Jobs Act! - Provide pathways out of poverty through green job training programs. America's workforce needs to be skilled up to meet the demands of a clean energy economy, and the Green Jobs Act will get it done.

2. Ensure local access to quality jobs - Green jobs must be good jobs, and accessible to all segments of the community.

Then spread the word: Pass this email along to 10 friends.

Timing is everything. We must act this week to write inclusion and opportunity into the clean energy economy from the start.

Thank you for being a strong advocate for a better future for all of us.
