T. Boone Pickens' Energy Plan

Posted by Jeffrey Hill at Jul 07, 2009 10:42 AM
Even Republican octagenarian and oil multi-billionaire T. Boone Pickens got it right--WIND and SOLAR POWER with ELECTRIC CARS. Why is Obama subsidizing Detroit instead of Tesla Electric Motor Cars?! Why is Obama listening to Big Coal and their self-serving lies about "Clean Coal" (Coal miners don't get "cleal lung disease"!)and Carbon Sequestration and ignoring horrendous environmental dedstruction with mountaintop removal strip mining?! Obama's daughters should kick his ass! The 1973 OPEC oil embargo was a lost opportunity stolen by Big Oil, and this one is being stolen by Big Coal and Obama! MONEY TALKS! (That's why the White Hous Visitors' Log is Top Secret despite 2 previous court rulings saying it's public!)

Green Job Market

Posted by Harland H at Jul 09, 2009 10:28 AM
To my knowledge, the Green Job market in Central Florida has not taken off as we hoped. As a Business and Marketing Consultant, how can I help to facilitate green jobs especially from the professional side as opposed to the manufacturing side? I have been unsuccessful in identifying real sustainable opportunities.

Good question Harland. I passed it along to Nick Flores with Green For All's Capital Access Program. Here's what he said:

I think the primary means of job creation outside the manufacturing sector will come from the establishment, increase, and/or growth of small businesses in underserved communities. I've seen statistics which cite that anywhere from 50% - 80% of the job creation in the U.S. typically comes from these small enterprises, with higher numbers being seen in underserved communities. (Here's a good link: http://www.sba.gov/advo/press/05-32.html) That's why Green For All's Capital Access Program is striving to support these enterprises through mentorship, curriculum, webinars, and other resources. My guess is that, as a consultant, Harland could do a lot to advise, mentor, and provide support to some of these businesses within Central Florida.

Green Jobs for America

Another California organization is focused on the creation of green jobs with green products. Work 4 Life (www.w4lp.org)and Greenthings have secured the exclusive right to manufacture sell and use Thura Products (www.peiworldwide.com) I would encourage an alliance of purposes. The products they will manufacture can be used to build homes for less than wood frame construction. Between these two foundations, there is an ability to create thousands of green jobs nationwide.
