Position Title: Online Organizer

Reports To: Internet Director

Full-time, compensation commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits package.

This is not a telecommuting position.

Position Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Online Organizer to join our Internet team.

The ideal candidate is an internet savvy professional, experienced with new and social media, email outreach, online advocacy and fundraising, online-to-offline mobilization strategies, and creating innovate campaigns to grow our online community and presence.

The Online Organizer will serve in a key communications capacity as the lead writer for the Internet Team and produce a steady content stream for Green For All’s blog and external online publications. They will build relationships with and conduct outreach to key online news and media outlets to promote Green For All’s campaigns and content.

They will also be able to work efficiently and with a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment that requires adaptability to shifting priorities, a keen sense of urgency, and a commitment to excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate across departments to implement a comprehensive online communications program, including online advocacy campaigns, grassroots mobilization, online/offline strategies, fundraising and membership development
  • Produce compelling and current content for the web, email blasts, social networks, and other online forums
  • Develop an email communications protocol, manage the email calendar, and lead implementation of emails to our list
  • Manage and build Green For All’s email list
  • Expand and manage Green For All’s presence on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites
  • Manage Green For All’s relationship with external blogs and online news and media outlets to promote our campaigns and content
  • Train and educate staff to ensure that everyone shares the responsibility for leveraging the web and online strategies in their work
  • Gather and analyze metrics to improve effectiveness of online organizing, communication & marketing efforts

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Required Skills:

  • 2-5 years online organizing, campaigning or communications experience
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Up-to-date experience in social media and innovative digital storytelling tools
  • Experience engaging and building communities on social networks, particularly Twitter and Facebook
  • Proven success in email list building and a solid understanding of database management including list segmentation and querying
  • Experience with the use of mobile messaging tools to engage supporters
  • Skills to build and maintain relationships with bloggers and key online outlets
  • Hands-on knowledge of Democracy in Action or other CRM system such as Convio, Kintera, or Blue State Digital
  • Experience using Content Management Systems (CMS), preferably Drupal
  • Ability to prepare graphics for the web and email communications
  • Ability to develop and analyze email and online metrics based on benchmarks and best practices for non-profits
  • Solid project management experience


Other Requirements:

  • Familiarity with the green economy, particularly as it relates to the empowerment of low-income communities, is a plus
  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must thrive on change, innovation, and teamwork
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience
  • A passion for Green For All’s mission
