Living Cities – a philanthropic collaborative of 20 foundations and financial institutions – has released a Clean Energy Sector Jobs Initiative Request for Proposals for communities working in collaboration to fund green jobs training programs. Grant awards will be used to strengthen the green jobs capacity of workforce partnerships and/or develop sector workforce initiatives for the purpose of preparing workers and jobseekers for employment in energy efficiency, retrofitting, renewable energy, and/or green building. Eligible applicants must represent a broad-based public/private partnership that includes a variety of stakeholders. Living Cities will make awards between $150,000 to $300,000 for implementation of initiatives. Partnerships must also be in one of the following cities/metropolitan areas: Atlanta, Baltimore, the Northern California Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Portland, Seattle, or the Twin Cities. Deadlines:
- January 7th, 2009: Living Cities released the RFP.
- January 23rd, 2009: Email notifications of intent to apply are due.
- February 6th, 2009, by 5 pm EDT: Proposals are due.
- Early March, 2009: grant awards will be announced.
