Oakland, CA - Today, a federal appeals court ruled to uphold the first federal regulations designed to slash pollution that causes global warming. In response, Green For All issued the following statement:
“Today’s decision means that millions of Americans will be able to breathe easier. Keeping our air clean and safe shouldn’t be up for debate. Unfortunately, big polluters continue to fight common sense safeguards for public health. The court has come down on the side of science and public health instead of corporate profits,” said Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, CEO of Green For All.
“Carbon pollution from coal plants and other fossil fuel industry doesn’t just threaten our lungs, it causes global warming, which threatens the future of all of us living on this planet. And low-income families and people of color bear the brunt. African American kids tend to live closer to polluting industries and have much higher rates of asthma. And the drought, floods, famine, and disease caused by global warming take a heavy toll on the poorest among us. Today’s decision means many more families—in America and across the globe—will have a shot at a healthy life.”
