Bank of America’s Community Development Banking Group in Southern California
Charmaine Atherton is the Senior Vice President and Client Manager for Bank of America’s Community Development Banking Group in Southern California, with a geographic reach from Fresno to the Mexican border. The Community Development Banking Group is central to delivering on the Bank’s commitment of $1.5 Trillion for community development efforts over the next ten years through lending and investing in low and moderate-income communities.
Charmaine brings thirty years of real estate and finance experience to the task, with the last sixteen years focused on affordable housing and economic development. Prior to joining Bank of America in 2002, Charmaine served as portfolio manager for a national syndication firm, asset manager for a regional developer, commercial mortgage banker for a regional business bank, community development lending officer for both a regional and a national bank, director of finance for a national tax credit syndication firm’s development arm, and housing director for a local non-profit development corporation.
Charmaine is based in downtown Los Angeles. She is a past chair and a current member of the California Community Reinvestment Corporation loan committee. She is the President of the Board of the Los Angeles Conservancy, and serves as a Director on the Boards of LA Family Housing and EngAGE (formerly More Than Shelter for Seniors). She is an Executive Committee member of the Urban Land Institute’s Los Angeles District Council where she chaired the Inner City and Urban Policy Committee for the past two years.
