Washington, D.C. – Today the Environmental Protection Agency issued a proposal that would limit the amount of greenhouse gas emissions permitted by new power plants. New Energy Efficiency Legislation Would Slash Pollution, Protect Communities, Create Jobs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Senate is set to vote on a bipartisan bill that would spur innovation and growth in the energy efficiency sector. The Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act (S. 1392), sponsored by Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio) is projected to create 136,000 new jobs by 2025. It would slash carbon pollution and other air pollutants equivalent to taking 22 million cars off the road. In addition, the bill would save consumers $13.7 billion in energy costs. However, a number of “poison pill” amendments by climate deniers in the Senate threaten to undercut these goals.
