We want to share some exciting news: Green The Church has a new home! Green The Church is a national effort designed to tap into the power and purpose of the African American faith community, to explore and expand the role of churches as centers for environmental and economic resilience. The vision for Green The Church was birthed out of the Black Church experience by Rev. Ambrose Carroll. A few years ago, Rev. Carroll, who was a Green For All Fellow, asked Green For All to help incubate the campaign, providing a temporary home where the vision could be cultivated and grow.
We were pleased to support such a vision and visionary, that provided church leaders with both a cursory understanding of how the environmental movement correlates with all the other social ills of our day, and how it also offers solutions to many of the things that plague us.
After several years incubating this campaign, Green The Church has grown indeed. With three national summits under our belt, we now have over 400 churches who have signed on to this initiative. The campaign is healthy, thriving, and ready for a more permanent home.
Rev. Ambrose Carroll’s Carroll Ministries International has now assumed full leadership over the the Green the Church campaign and will help take it to the next level of growth and purpose. Under Carroll Ministries International, Green The Church will be fully led and managed by leaders in the Black Church, which is the right next step, one we fully support.
We look forward to continuing to support Rev. Carroll as a partner on the Green The Church campaigns. It’s a proud day for us to see what started as a simple, yet powerful vision, truly blossom into a growing national program that is impacting thousands of people’s lives.
