Mark Davis, WDC Solar:

Bringing solar power—and jobs—to urban low-income neighborhoods

Mark_Davis_1-web.pngMark Davis created WDC Solar to provide Washington D.C. citizens a low-income solar program. The company improves the environment and quality of life for urban residents. Its Urban Low-Income Solar and Energy Efficiency Program (ULISEEP) hosts community workshops, trains workers in solar installation and energy efficiency, and installs solar and energy efficiency technology in low-income homes.

We are very pleased that President Obama has introduced a solar program for low and medium-income families. Today, African Americans make up a dismal 6 percent of solar workers in the US. This is unacceptable. Our job is to improve upon those numbers. We applaud the President's Clean Power Plan and the attention he has given to the job-creating solar industry.
