Remote Employment Workshop
Up to Green Curriculum
Hello,
My organization has developed 6-week, online workshop for job seekers who are in need of home-based employment. We believe that green jobs should provide opportunities for people who that, because of health problems, lack of childcare resources, poverty, etc., have been denied access to mainstream employment.
We believe that green job developers/workforce development practitioners can harness the power of technology so that persons facing employment barriers can work from home.
The blended learning program features an hour of live instruction, 4x/week. Participants are also assigned one hour self-study modules that they can work on at their own pace in preparation for the next day. The instructional segment is followed by a 16-hour practicum/work experience module in which participants work with organizations that could potentially hire them. Occupations include customer service, writing, data entry, transcription, and more.
We also have a 2-day program for employment practitioners.
Using Technology to Create Enhanced Employment Opportunities is designed to address the opportunity to extend job-development beyond industrial-aged thinking by focusing on new and emerging technologies. It proceeds from the understanding that career practitioners must be well-versed in home-based employment strategies for a number of reasons, including:
1. Home-based employment is an essential component of any comprehensive workforce development strategy
2. Traditional employment is often inadequate for vulnerable people
3. Job seekers are interested in working from home
4. Internet-based opportunities are increasing in number
5. Home-based employment is a natural expression of technology and the knowledge economy
6. Job seekers need direction in order to benefit from home-based employment
7. Career practitioners can play a vital role in creating jobs of the future
8. Job development that focus solely on traditional employment are becoming less relevant
9. Competencies for developing home-based employment are in demand
10. Employment outcomes can be improved by tapping into the home-based employment market
