Comprehensive 12-week Green Building Curriculum
Up to Green Curriculum
Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Warren, VT (www.yestermorrow.org) has been teaching sustainable building and design techniques to adults for nearly 30 years. For the past three years, Yestermorrow has offered two certificate-level programs, one in Natural Building and one in Sustainable Building and Design. The 12-week Natural Building Intensive program is designed to develop competency in a range of green building skills for emerging professionals in the building trades. The program is structured into 5-day segments, with 40+ hours of onsite instruction per week and is open to 10 students per session. The curriculum was developed by Yestermorrow faculty who are experienced practitioners in the field and include specialists in insulation, timber framing, natural wall systems, plasters, stone masonry, and carpentry.
Yestermorrow is seeking partners to develop a similar intensive workforce training program related to deep energy retrofitting of existing housing stock. Curriculum would include building science, air sealing, ventilation, insulation, moisture control, offgassing, materials selection and much more. Participants would work on an actual retrofit jobsite in the local community in partnership with local affordable housing organizations.
