WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to today’s news that EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson is stepping down from her post, Green for All CEO Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins issued the following statement:
EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson has exhibited a rare kind of leadership that’s needed today — doing what’s right over doing what’s politically expedient.
Even in the face of relentless attack on the EPA and on her personally, she led the agency to take groundbreaking actions that not only will protect the public’s health and safety; but will also create jobs in the burgeoning green economy. In her historic role as the first woman of color to hold this post, she created room for everyone at the table--including those whose interests are often ignored and overlooked.
We want the nation’s next EPA administrator to follow in Lisa Jackson's footsteps by championing those who are overburdened by pollution and most vulnerable to the ravages of climate change. All the while, looking for creative ways to harness clean technology to rebuild or nation’s economy.
