Transformation of a "little guy"!
Up to Influencing Implementation Plans
Since I was a child, I’ve questioned authority that I thought was hypocritical. To my dismay, most of it was. Always asked questions that rocked many a boat. I am truly a representative of the "little guy". Well, fast forward to our current situation.
We elected someone that comes pretty close to my political, socio-economic leanings. I realize that people are suffering―economically, morally, spiritually and in many other ways. But, we are truly at a special time in our ‘young’ history as a nation. I have worked in private industry, governmental agencies and now work with a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called Peopletech; in a ‘nutshell’, it’s a research and educational org, putting people and technology together working utilizing Quality Control and continuous improvement methodologies for the betterment of us all (see the teachings of Dr. Walter A. Shewhart and Dr. W. Edwards Deming). We care very much where our Recovery dollars are going into what we term the ‘Reinvestment phase’ of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
After our man's election and ARRA was passed, my ‘transformation’ began in earnest. Started opening dialogues with the powers that are, Republicrats and Demacans, liberals and conservatives, "obstructionists" and "do-gooders", rich and poor (is there an in-between?). Asked to meet with County Commissioners, Mayor’s reps, congresspeople―state and federal and what we have here called The Economic Stimulus Task Force. Seems like here in Florida, there is a lot of work to be done. Needed to get hard information to the rule makers as quickly and efficiently as possible. My curiosity to seek potential in humankind led me to see if a ‘little guy’ could have some input into the decision-making process―locally, statewide and federally. Started a rather large database of organizations that I could get information from.
The day before I was to give information to this Economic Stimulus Task Force, was fortunate enough to listen to the GreenforAll phone conference on May 19th. Got hard info from GreenforAll, the Portland initiative and other sources to come up with a 15 page packet of very useful info. Needless to say, this Task Force was taken aback. They had no plan in place other than what land developers, utilities and the local wealth had told them. If you have any positive feelings toward your fellow humans and care about future generations, then do what a famous patriot once said, "Let’s get rolling!"
Thanks for your time and wish all of you the best in your endeavors,
