What does home mean to you? If home is a place where you can connect with like-minded people and have time to reflect and eat great food, join us at the first annual Homecoming at Sankofa Gardens, October 18-21. After eight years of growing fresh, healthy food, hosting a seasonal neighborhood farm stand, and serving as a hub for culture and creativity, Sankofa Gardens is inviting you to come home to Shreveport, Louisiana. The four-day Sankofa Gardens retreat focuses on art and culture, and will bring together community builders, educators, food growers, artists, and visionaries who want to deepen their connection to the land, their neighbors, and themselves.
The Homecoming Celebration is hosted by Green For All Fellow Leia Lewis, founder of Sankofa Vision and will feature keynote speaker Markese Bryant, a hip hop artist and founder of Fight For Light. Markese will not only return to his family roots in Shreveport, he will share his story and lead discussions about the role of young people in transforming themselves and the world. The event will include several days of campus-to-community programming in conjunction with Centenary College of Louisiana and Southern University Shreveport Louisiana. Participants will engage in holistic learning about the Green Economy Movement, growing their own food and the critical role of arts and culture in our lives.
