As we continue to share information about the growing green jobs economic sector, it’s worth noting something important: green jobs growth is outpacing regular economic growth: by a decent margin, and across the country.
As we continue to share information about the growing green jobs economic sector, it’s worth noting something important: green jobs growth is outpacing regular economic growth: by a decent margin, and across the country.
Take, for example, a report by Headwaters Economics. It found that:
- Nationwide, overall jobs grew by 10 percent from 1995 to 2007 - compared to green jobs, which grew at 18 percent.
- In New Mexico, total jobs grew 13 percent between 1995 and 2007 while the number of green jobs grew by 62 percent.
- The Rocky Mount West Region (MN, WY, UT, CO & NM) has experienced a 30 percent increase in green jobs, while job growth across the region grew 19 percent.
