Position Summary

The Program Associate is responsible for helping to develop and implement geographic, issue, or sector based strategies that advance Green For All’s mission. We are seeking a talented and experienced person to join our State and Local Initiatives team (SLI).

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who has a demonstrated ability to manage a wide range of projects and to deliver results for his or her organization. We are interested in candidates who can demonstrate some experience in one or more of the following categories: workforce development, economic development, business support, policy advocacy, social equity, environmental issues, affordable housing, energy efficiency, community or labor organizing.

Successful candidates will be affable and highly adaptable team players. The ability to interact with all levels of staff and external partners in a fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism is crucial to this role. The Program Associate must be a strong writer and a skilled communicator.

This is a full-time permanent position located in our Oakland, California headquarters.

Primary Responsibilities

• Help develop and support initiatives to create green jobs, inclusive economic opportunities, and environmental outcomes in specific sectors or geographies.

• Contribute to the organization’s understanding of specific issues, strategies, and policy areas by conducting research, writing, and educating team members.

• Help convene national working groups or other key events, overseeing all details including outreach, communications, logistics, and materials.

• Produce content for reports, best practice briefs, policy briefs, newsletters, blogs.

• Track and disseminate information, tools, resources, and opportunities related to the green economy.

• Provide general programmatic and administrative support to the SLI team including creative input on projects as well as administrative assignments.

• Foster and maintain relationships with local practitioners and national experts on behalf of Green For All.

• Help develop and support systems to organize and manage information as well as disseminate information to external partners.

• Coordinate meetings, public appearances, or presentations; assist in preparation of materials and PowerPoint presentations for public events.

• Create and maintain materials related to specific programmatic initiatives including website and other social media content.

• Help identify funding opportunities and prepare proposals. Track grant deliverables and prepare reports on outcomes.

• Other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

• Strong commitment to social and economic justice and to Green For All’s mission and organizational objectives.

• Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of two years relevant experience.

• Strong analytical skills; excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.

• Skilled at working effectively with a diversity of people and organizations.

• Highly organized, detail‐oriented, and able to handle or manage multiple project deadlines simultaneously in a fast‐paced environment.

• Ability to analyze and summarize a variety of content quickly and effectively.

• Demonstrated ability to take initiative when required by the situation and proven ability to accomplish tasks on time and within budget.

• Demonstrated ability and willingness to work independently with minimal day‐to‐day supervision.

• Experience developing and maintaining organizational systems and tracking progress on outcomes with enterprise software, such as Salesforce.

• Creative resourcing and time‐management skills.

• Ability to work in a dynamic and frequently changing environment.

• Willingness to travel as needed.

Compensation: Full-time, commensurate with experience, excellent benefits package.
