Yesterday, 150,000 people took to the mall in Washington D.C. to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and call for strong action on climate.

In anticipation of a climate and energy bill from Senators Kerry, Lieberman, and Graham this week, the rally called for comprehensive legislation and leadership from Capitol Hill.

While notable speakers like EPA head Lisa Jackson, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) Nancy Sutley, Jesse Jackson, and Scientist James Hansen discussed the need for solutions to the climate crisis, musical acts like the Roots, Joss Stone, John Legend, Sting, and more, rocked the crowd.

Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, CEO of Green For All, amped up the rally with rousing words about the urgent need to transform our economy to one that is good for the planet and for communities in need of opportunity.
